1. What We Collect

When you use TTM we may collect:

  • Property information you enter — address or PIN number used to look up assessment data. This is publicly available government data.
  • Account information — email address and password if you create an account.
  • Payment information — processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Usage data — pages visited, searches performed, browser type, and IP address collected via standard web server logs and analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide the property lookup and report services you requested
  • To process payments and deliver purchased reports
  • To send transactional emails (receipt, report delivery)
  • To improve our service and fix technical issues
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising targeting.

3. Property Data Is Public

All property assessment data displayed on TTM — including addresses, PINs, assessed values, and square footage — is sourced from the Cook County Assessor's Office public open data portal. This information is publicly available government data. Searching for a property does not expose any private information.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services which may process your data under their own privacy policies:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Your card data is handled entirely by Stripe and is subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Google Maps — embedded maps used to display property locations. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
  • Firebase / Google — authentication services if you create an account.
  • Render — cloud hosting provider where our servers and database run.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information and purchase history for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Payment records are retained as required for tax and accounting purposes (typically 7 years). You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by contacting us.

6. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure — we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

You may:

  • Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and personal data
  • Opt out of any non-transactional email communications

To exercise any of these rights, email legal@taxedtoomuch.com.
